State, with examples, what is meant by Moral Evil. 6 marks

  1. Moral evil is evil caused by humans misusing the free will which God gave them in His perfect plan for humans (Jeremiah 29:11). One example is wars. The point of wars is to kill other human beings with weapons designed to inflict great pain. This is moral evil because all humans were created "in the image of God" (Genesis 1:27).

Another example is murder. Again humans take the life (or lives) of other human beings - creations of God. Murder goes against the will of God (Leviticius 18:22) and sins against the Sixth Commandment, therefore shows humans misusing free will and thus is moral evil.

A final example is rape. Rape is condemned in the Bible (1 Thessalonians 4:3 and Acts 15:29) as well as by Jesus in the Gospels (Matthew 15:19 and Mark 7:21). It is moral evil because it shows humans misusing their free will to commit evil sins (sexual immorality).
