"Explain how the search for meaning and purpose in life may lead to, or support, belief in God." - 2004 1(c)

How would you explain this to get 8 marks?
Thank you :)

  1. Well, the book says that "most people ask questions such as "Why are we here, where are we going and what's the purpose of our life on earth?" God probably provides an easy answer to those questions. It also says that the questions lead to life after death, which you could again expand.I think I would add to that the fact that God gives you a motive to have to live a good life, possibly, and to follow the Bible. I suppose I would really expand on those with examples, such as the fact that humanity seems to be alone in the universe, we seem to special, but why is this? Is there a god? Is the whole poin of life really just to reproduce and carry genes forward that are advantageous?

This seems to link into design, so that might be something to include as well. Remembering Year 9, it might also be the case that God, being a force much like gravity, drives the morality of the universe and so gives that purpose and meaning.

(This was made up in the last 5 minutes, so don't blame me if it doesn't make sense...)

  2. Are we all born with a sense or morality? We know the difference between right and wrong? Do we all have a conscience? If so where does this come from? If you ask these kind of questions about humanity you may come to the conclusion that God has given us a sense of morality? This could be one point in your answer.
