  1. I think this question revolves around the Sanctity of Life ...

Apart from the two you mentioned, St. Paul also teaches in 1 Corinthians 3:16 that "God's spirit lives in you", therefore it is sacred. God gave humans life; He decides when to begin it and when to end it (Job 1:21), and He has the perfect plan for every unique human (Jeremiah 29:11), therefore life is sacred.

Another example is Jesus Christ Himself. If life was not sacred and not worth living, God would not have sent Jesus Christ to die for the sins of humans, therefore life is sacred. It remains sacred even though humans sin and destroy God's plan for them, because God is omnibenevolent.

This relates to the great commandment of love (Matthew 22:37-39), and that God loves everyone equally, therefore every life is just as sacred for every human being. Christians live FOR God because life came from God - this is emphasised in Romans 14:8. Therefore, Christians believe life is sacred.

  3. There are quite a few reasons why Christians believe that life is sacred. First of all, it is believed that life was a gift from God to humans, so we should respect this gift and treat it as sacred.
Secondly, another reason relates to how God is omnipresent, that is, He is present in all things, including humans. Thus, the presence of God's holy spirit in Christians leads to the belief that it is sacred and should be treated in this way.
Also, it states in the Bible that God made mankind in His own image, which emphasises how important and sacred life is, and its relation to God.

  4. SAHAR SAYS: so caleb are you saying that God is in humans as well? if God is in us, doesn't that make us God? is this similar to hinduism (where brahman is in everything)

  5. Sahar and Caleb, the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit...this can be interpreted as the soul or as the Holy Spirit that God sent to earth after Jesus ascended into heaven. The body is important and needed for the soul and the Holy Spirit.
