"Explain why changing attitudes to homosexuality cause problems for some Christians"

  1. Err..:S

Because many Christian denominations believe that homosexual relationships are unnatural and go against God's will. But if society now encourages people - including Christians - to accept homosexuals for who they are...I don't know, Christians might have a hard time accepting these people and treating them equally since many of them believe homosexual acts are sinful.

  2. But being Homosexual is not a sin in itself it is the actual act. Theres some thing in the bible about "Do not lie with a man as you would lie with a woman"- I cannot remember where thats from sorry. And some Christians say that if God created the Homosexual people then he loves them like everybody else other wise he would not be omnibenevolent

  3. According to the Evangelical Church both being homosexual and the act of having sex with another man are sins. As a result if you are an Evangelical Christian and believe in your church then you too should believe being homosexual is a sin. However because attitudes have changed towards homosexuals and many people believe being homosexual is okay then if they voice their religious beliefs about it then they may be considered hurtful or cruel to some, even though they are just following their religion.

  4. And...
In Britain, 'civil partnerships' give any two people the same legal rights as a couple in marriage - such as visiting rights in hospitals. These allow homosexual couples to live together without being at a disadvantage because of their sexual orientation, so these partnerships may become more popular. However, the fact remains that many Christian denominations condemn sexual relationships between homosexuals. So Christians living in places with liberal attitudes to homosexuality may find that what they see around them conflicts with what they believe.

  5. Jake, you have a good point but how relevant is it to the question. You could make it more relevant by explaining how some Churches have accepted more liberal attitudes which makes them different to other Churches. This can lead to a conflict of opinion among Christian groups rather than a harmonious relationship between the groups.

Great point Ben. You are stating the Christian belief and the fact that society has changed. Previously the societal belief was in line with the Christian belief but now they are incongruous as societal beliefs have changed. This therefore makes the Christians seem unreasonable and not as liberal as society. It could cause conflict with their role as a Christian and as a member of that society.

Excellent answer Emily. You have linked your point and evidence with your explanation back to the question. Please refer to what I wrote regarding Ben's point to clarify your first comment.
